Max not pictured above. Too bad.
Want a Good Lay?
I mean, don’t we all? The good news that even if you’re not getting it (and getting it good), the characters in your nearest romance novel are most definitely getting the good-n-dirty business.
Now that I have your attention, let me thank you for visiting my blog. I’m a snarky, fickle book reviewer of contemporary romance. Mostly. Sometimes I veer wildly off track. Sometimes I even own up to that.
Backstory, Blah, Blah, Blah.
During the pandemic I began reading/binging romance novels as a coping “strategy.” One that pairs well with wine. Or gin. Or tea. Or a good lay/fully charged sex toy.
If you’re here, you already know that romance reads are also perfect in the bath, great at the beach, and excellent in the middle of the night as a life raft whilst you attempt to save yourself from dread spiraling.
Recently I heard the term ”happy books” applied to the genre, and I heartily agree with that—that’s why these stories are here. To give you heart-eye emojis, at least by the end of the story, even though you might be tortured within an inch of your life before the story’s over. And usually it’s worth it. It is its own special kind of fun.
Like you, I, Max, live here on planet Earth, which is wild and wonderful and also riddled with problems. Hence the need for happy books. So, while I hope we’re all fighting the good fight during the day, we also deserve some delicious escapism at night, or whenever you need a dose of happy. If I can help curate your reading lists—whether you like what I like, or you use my ‘no’s’ to guide your ‘yes,’ then something good is happening here!
xo, Max
FAQ…
Will I like your reviews? Um, a lot of you probably won’t. I find many romance reviewers to be very forgiving, and pals, I just don’t fall in that camp. You may want to avert your eyes! Or maybe what I find trashy, you find to be treasure-y, giving us a symbiotic kind of thang thang. Read my introductory blog to get a feel for what you’re dealing with here.
Are you paid to review? No. I read what I want, when I want. Sometimes I write about it.
Can I pay you? Why, I’m so glad you asked! I want to say yes, and I’m still working out ways to work with you.
How often do you blog? About once a week. It might be less or more. I have other jobs, so.
Why do you have more on your Goodreads than on this site? That chicken came before this here egg.
