While the two are filming “Duke the Halls,” a ducal holiday romance for the Hope Channel, their mutual admiration is revealed and then it’s underneath the mistletoe and the sheets for them—in secret, of course.
Yay: The quote below says it all. This book is a love letter to body positivity and a validation of sex work. Queer characters are seamlessly included, as is a reasonable portrayal of a character with mental health issues.
Boo: The use of Christmas-themed scents and flavored lubes crushed my senses into literal, gingerbread and icing-sprinkled dust. The sickly sweet dessert scented soaps and lotions-n-sex combo went way over-the-top. Same goes for the heaps Christmas themed-overwhelm that comprised the imaginary town in the story, Christmas Notch. Too much, I say!
Bee had a suitcase of sex toys but they went unused for some reason. Why put the vibrating dildo on the mantle and not whip it out in the third act? Puzzling.
Nolan’s character wasn’t very interesting, but he was loyal. And hot. And already a responsible, hard-working family man. And extremely open-minded when it comes to loving and supporting his porn performing partner (once he gets to that point, if you know what I mean.) Okay, so Nolan is quite the evolved specimen. Even with all that amazement, he was still not compelling.
Will Bee’s/Bianca Von Honey’s porn lifestyle be revealed? Will Nolan’s family secrets and money troubles make it to the news? Will the movie wrap without incident? No, you say! Never! There will be nary a bump along the holly festooned, snow-covered sleigh trail!
I won’t plot spoil this for you, but you might have some *hunches* about what could happen. Your hunches will likely be right.
Three stars: ⭐️⭐️⭐️ I liked it, I would recommend, but I have my gripes.
Three chilis: 🌶🌶🌶 Spicy, but not as hot as I thought it would get.
